Kabali Review - Rajini is all Mass & Class!

I am not a big fan of watching movies in Cinema Theater for the past few years. I used to watch movies during Rajinikanth's prime years. But the hype and hoopla around Kabali made me try to get a ticket to watch it in first 3 days! I tried in vain for hours and days and finally gave up looking at the demand for it and the online sites not allowing booking a ticket so easy! But by sheer chance of luck on Friday, the day of its release, the Cine Gods smiled on me and I got one booked for 23rd (Saturday) through ticketnew.com site and I could not believe it for real!

I believe I had the effort's worth! The intro is awesome with Rajini silently reading a book with a great pose and body language! His gait and subsequent scenes where he says "magizhchi" to the police officer calmly and later runs riot on screen with style and flourish! wow Thalaiva you are back!!

For the lakhs of fans out there....this movie is not wholly Rajini's but it is director Ranjith's! Rajini has acted in a director's movie, so to say. Otherwise would you see our thalaivar loosing his family and going in search for them. His emotions towards finding his wife and daughter, his reaction upon knowing who his daughter is, his search for his wife and thinking and emoting as if she is around him are some of the scenes that made me think "have you ever seen Rajini doing this!!!!" Wow he is showing how good a performer he is in these scenes.

Once he knows where his wife is and comes to the place his reaction upon seeing her and his wife's (in the movie Radhika Apte) reactions are superb to say the least. The family reunion scene made me say "wow thalaiva I am really happy you have taken a different way in this movie!" This movie perfectly fits his age and he has essayed the role pretty superbly. If you love Rajini you will surely love this movie.

Don't just look for mass also look at the class of his performance! Mass scenes are there: now famous "kabalidaaaa!" dialogue, his style in that scene, then the way he shows is fingers to his two companions to get in car and that he will drive to smash the villain, his superb dialogue in the climax to the villain (Winston Chao) will make his fans go in raptures.

Equally good are the scenes with Radhika Apte and Dhansika if you see the class performer in him! Radhika Apte and Dhansika have essayed their role superbly despite the presence of a Superstar in the movie!

Bottomline: For a long time Rajini fan, myself, I loved the way Rajini showed that he is a class actor and I repeat his lines here "vandutennu sollu....thirumba vantutennu sollu" :) I will be really happy if Rajini sticks to playing characters displaying emotion and he is really capable of such kind of acting!

Kabalidaaaaaaaa!
